In February 2003, The SHED, Inc. was opened as a private spiritual residential recovery home for men.
The name 'SHED' represents the following goals of our home:

Shelter Healing Education Development

It has been said that life is a journey on which we may choose many different paths. Sadly the primary detour in this country is addiction to alcohol and/or drugs. It is a path that millions of people mistakenly choose, believing that it will lead them to freedom and happiness.

‘The tragedy is that so many addicts die of addictions without ever finding real fulfillment. The good news is that more and more of them are discovering the highway to freedom, happiness and contentment. They are choosing and walking in the path of recovery. Recovery is a process that moves along a specific path. That path is spiritual growth.’ ~ Tom Brady

Structure and accountability are essential. Our expectations are high in this regard. Every resident who is able must seek and maintain suitable employment, participate in the regular maintenance of the house and grounds, attend daily meetings and seek a spiritual way of life. Church attendance is required. Each resident must maintain a recovery sponsor.

Our success is in our journey as much as in our destination.

We believe that God and time will bring success.

The SHED provides housing, assistance in job placement, transportation, structure and guidance.

We have a program supervisor with years of recovery experience. Other recovery and pastoral volunteers assist as needed.

An in-depth 12 Step recovery education training program led by qualified persons is provided on a weekly basis. Every effort is made to make sure that each resident knows what to do to seek a lifestyle of recovery.

Entry to The SHED is open to men age 19 and over who are willing to do whatever it takes. A personal desire for recovery is not optional. We look for people who are truly seeking recovery, not those who are made to seek recovery.

God put on our hearts a desire to provide a clean and safe place…a spiritual home where men with a desire to get out of the storm and redirect their journey spiritually, physically and emotionally are welcome.

Human strength fails us. We believe that God, personal commitment and time will bring success.

And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.
But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out.
